Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature previously seen in FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. With each Nightreign session lasting approximately forty minutes, there's insufficient time for players to effectively leave or read messages.
Ishizaki stated, "With sessions lasting roughly forty minutes, there isn't enough time to send your own messages or read other people's messages, therefore we disabled the messaging feature."
This choice marks a departure from FromSoftware's tradition of incorporating message-based player interaction, a feature often praised for enhancing the gaming experience. However, the developers deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.
To preserve the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features a separate storyline. It promises a fresh adventure, presenting unique challenges and encounters while retaining the signature atmosphere and complexity of the Elden Ring world.
